Ben Kroeger has been playing the violin since the age of four, and is a five time Wisconsin Fiddle Champion. Ben’s eclectic musical taste has drawn him to bluegrass, blues, big band, celtic, classical, folk, gypsy swing, and jazz. Ben’s arrangement of the Reinhardt/Grappelli tune “Minor Swing” has been played by high school orchestras in Wisconsin and Washington State and by Ben and his classmates on your in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Ben studied violin under Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Associate Concertmaster Ilana Setapen and MSO violinists Jerome Franke and Glenn Asch. He completed a year of jazz violin study under Randy Sabien and has recently played in Randy’s Fiddlehead Band as “The Fiddle in the Middle”. Ben attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, for a year where he studied jazz violin as well as music production and engineering. He is currently finishing up is BM or Violin Performance at Mcnally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, MN where he is a Violinist of the award winning Lowertown Hot Club, and the Fusion Ensemble which recently wrapped up a two-week west coast tour.
In addition to being an award winning violinist, Ben also owns and operated an audio post production and recording equipment sales business, Kroeger Music LLC. He specialized in vintage, boutique analog recording equipment from the 1970’s and also repairs equipment at his tech shop in St. Paul.
